今日の授業と課題

今日は海外研修について話した後に、図書館に行って「English Garden」で本を選んでもらいました。課題として、12月8日の夕方までに、英語で書いた短い感想文をLang-8に投稿してください。

Lang-8で私とまだフレンドの関係がない場合は、利用登録をした後に、「日記」をクリックしてから、

URLのアドレスをコピーして、メールで私に送ってください。

なお、授業でインターンシップとCIEEについて話しました。授業に見つけることができませんでしたが、授業が終わった後にこのヘージで、派遣国のリストを見つけました。

残念ながら、エジプトは載っていませんが、行く方法は他にもあるかも知れません。

「国際事情研修」の説明会

11/19（金）3時間目の「入門セミナーII」の時間に次年度「国際事情研修」の説明会があります。会場は1233教室となります。直接1233教室に行ってください。研修に参加する意志がなくとも、説明を聞いてみてほしいと思います。

課題について

先日の授業で、課題について次の指示を書きました。

Write your introduction on a piece of paper. Write in paragraphs. Bring it to class next week.

"Next week"と書いてしまいましたが、学園祭で10月29日が休みになり、提出日は11月5日になります。

Writing an outline

Beginning next week, each of you will give a presentation in which you introduce a member of this class to the other members. Here is a short outline tells you what you need to do:

1. Interview
1. Ask questions
2. Ask question about the answers
3. Take notes
2. Outline
1. Organize your notes into two or three categories
2. You don't need to include everything
3. Write your outline in English in short phrases
3. Presentation
1. Practice before you come to class
2. Write your outline on the board
3. Speak loudly enough for everyone to hear you
4. Look at your audience when you talk to them

It is also important that you save your notes. You will need them later.

Today is our last class.  Let's go to our computer room (1445) and try using Lang-8.com. Please "sign up" and then invite me to be your "friend." After you do that, please start writing in English and helping other people learn Japanese.

Assignment

Choose a book to read in the library.  Choose a book that is not too hard but not too easy for you.  For next week, write a few sentences in English about the book that you read.  Please write on every other line.

Podcasts

Today (May 21st) we will go to Room 1445 to use computers.  I would like you to listen to various podcasts and then send me an e-mail to tell me which podcast you are most interested in listening to.

Last assignment

In December, I asked everyone to interview another member of the class. Then, I asked you to make an outline you could use to introduce that person. Finally, I said that you will need to write an introduction in paragraphs following your outline. Today in class, we will work on this.
